Photo of servers at the Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience Institute, University of Michigan Led by UM, the consortium developed an integrated informatics solution to handle the vast amount of data obtained through analyzing a large number of brain regions and neural cell types from multiple experimental approaches. This solution includes a High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster for large-scale data analysis, Oracle databases for data integration and annotation, file servers for data sharing as well as firewall, user management, data backup and web components. Researchers in the Consortium can access data, the HPC cluster and databases anywhere in the world in a secure manner. Besides providing hardware, data management and data analysis support, the bioinformatics group also actively develops new solutions to address high throughput data analysis, data exploration and literature mining needs in the consortium (MBNI Brainarray website).
